Lee’s Going to Northeastern Ontario
Thank you, Northeastern Ontario!
From Canada Day through July 8th, Lee travelled across Northeastern Ontario, visiting eleven ridings from Sudbury to Kapuskasing to Elliot Lake and every stop in between.
She sat down with mayors, healthcare workers, union leaders, small business owners, educators, community leaders, and young people across the region.
Lee showed up in communities that haven’t seen a Liberal leadership candidate in years. She listened, and learned about what really matters in Northeastern Ontario. The energy was real. You can see it in the highlight video below.
At every stop, from Blind River to a pancake house in New Liskeard to a hospital in Hearst, she found the same thing: people ready to talk, ready to organize, and ready to rebuild. People ready for change. For Ontario Liberal’s, there's a real appetite to breathe new life into our party in places where we've been quiet for too long.
What she heard
Three things kept coming up.
Workforce and community strength. Northern communities need workers to keep hospitals staffed, businesses open, and local economies moving. That means strong training and innovation partnerships between industry and colleges, and a government that treats its workforce with the urgency it demands.
Highway safety. Lee drove Highways 11 and 17 herself. She saw what northern families already live with. These roads need investment, not more promises.
Healthcare access. People shouldn't have to drive four hours for care.
