I endorse Lee Fairclough to be the next Ontario Liberal Leader & Premier of Ontario
Over the many months of this campaign, I have had the privilege to get to know Lee Fairclough well. I have watched her grow as a candidate, take nothing for granted, and approach this race with grit and openness.
Lee and I do not agree on everything. What I have come to appreciate is that she is comfortable with disagreement. She listens, pushes back, asks good questions, and is willing to reconsider when presented with new information. She is substantive, pragmatic and genuinely interested in getting things right for Ontarians. I've thoroughly enjoyed our conversations.
Her attitude, grit, and potential have made me confident in her leadership. As Ontarians get to know Lee, I know they will too.
I've offered to serve as a formal adviser to Lee on economic, housing and infrastructure issues, among others. We have agreed to work together on making productivity growth a priority, on reforming municipal finance so infrastructure growth does not come at the expense of new housing, on directly addressing the milestone recession facing young Ontarians, and on fundamentally changing an infrastructure system that spends far too much and builds far too little.
Lee understands that stronger growth is necessary if we want to sustainably invest in healthcare, education, and the public services people depend on. It's that balance that Ontarians seek from our party, and I have no doubt she can deliver it.
